Vintage Hopi Indian Eagle Kachina Beautifully Hand Carved Ron Duwyenie

  

This vintage eagle kachina has been beautifully hand carved and painted by Hopi artist Ron Duwyenie. This kachina stands 9.5" tall and the wingspan is approximately 7.5" across.

It is signed on the bottom and is in great vintage condition. The Eagle or Kwahu Kachina appears in the Kiva Dances. Eagles are honored guests among the Hopi. And, the eagle kachina's dance is a prayer for more eagles and resembles the eagle's motion of flight. Each dancer imitates the steps and cries of the eagles.

Ron Duwyenie was mainly taught by his father, Joseph Duwyenie. The way Ron paints and details his Kachinas is what sets them apart.
