It definitely is not very new and I would estimate it's between 25 and 65 years old. There is a number "8721" written in ink on the bottom which may help identify the eagle's origin. It is rough hewn of what looks like barn wood -- sawed and carved with excellent detail and minimal staining applied. It measures 34 3/4" across and is about 10 3/4" tall and about 3 3/4 thick. A vintage hanging loop is attached at the back.
Excellent condition and appears never to have been hung outside. No cracks or chips and the head and feet are secure and nicely melded into the carving. There are some expected irregularities to the old wood -- nothing that seems out of place or not right. Overall an excellent addition to a folk art wood collection -- or for early American/camp/backwoods display. Check photos and ask any questions you may have.
