This is a Vintage hand-carved Argillite Killer Whale Brooch Pin carved by Haida Craftsman Denny Dixon. This Pin is etch signed on the back by Denny Dixon and reads, Hand Carved Haida Killer Whale by Denny Dixon Skidegate B.

Denny is a member of the Eagle clan. He works primarily with argillite, carving poles, platters, boxes, pendants, and pins. As a self-taught artist, Denny was influenced by the late carver, Pat McGuire.

His brother is also an established argillite carver, Pat Dixon. Internationally known, he has worked at the Montreal Museum, and has presented an argillite box to the Empress of Japan. He is from Skidegate which is located in the Queen Charlotte Islands of British Columbia, Canada. This Pin is 2 1/4" tall, by 1 3/16" wide, by 1/8 thick.

The Pin is in Very Good Condition. Most of the items I sell are estate finds, and are presented to you in, as is, as found condition. They are described to the best of my knowledge.
