Stunning Old Bird Eagle / Badger Steatite Stone Effigy Pipe Hand Carved Native

  

C e l es ti a l N o n e s u ch. A black stone, possibly Steatite, hand carved pipe in the form of a diving falcon / eagle, and a badger / raccoon upon the back. A beautiful example of artistry, the bird, possibly a Perigrine Falcon, is frozen in an intense diving motion, and the badger stands in a very engaging form.

Presumably Native American, this piece seems to exhibit significant signs of age, but exact age and tribal affiliation / maker remain unknown. Open eyes may have contained inlaid shell or stone at one point. A terrific display, this will be a fantastic addition for any student or appreciators collection. Exhibits signs of age such as surface wear and weathering.

This piece does have some chips, such as on the badger's ears, as well as the falcons beak and tail.
