RARE EARLY 20TH CENTURY AME RI CAN ARTS & CRAFTS HAND CARVED, BAS-RELIEF, FIGURATIVE, HARDWOOD STAVED WOOD PLANK, most likely an ARCHITECTURAL, INTERIOR DECORATIVE FRAGMENT, with BULL, ANGEL, LION & EAGLE. Early 20th century Ame ri can Arts & Crafts antique hand carved, bas-relief figurative wood carvings. 9" Length x 3 ¾" Height x ¾ Depth. A very rare and simply extraordinary early 20th century Ame ri can Arts and Crafts antique bas-relief, hand carved, staved hardwood plank, figurative sculpture, featuring four vignettes with a winged griffin, angel with scroll and wings, winged lion and eagle with unfurled wings. This extraordinary Ame ri can Arts and Crafts artifact isn't stamped but rather hand carved, with the four figurative sculptural blocks sitting above the rest of the wood surface.

The wooden plank, the bas-relief sculpture is realized on, consists of three separate boards, glued together to comprise the larger plank. Interestingly, a looped brass wire hanging hook appears on the top of the board, allowing the sculpture to be viewed vertically and not horizontally, where the figurative images could be more easily appreciated.

Perhaps this was done stylistically or also as a result of wanting to hang and display the work in a tight, narrow, vertical wall space. Regardless, it's without damage and the four bas-relief, sculptural vignettes are unscathed. An exceptional Ame ri can Arts and Crafts wood carving. Very Good to Excellent overall antique condition.
