Vibrant red, such a great design. Lidded Box, with detailed EAGLE DESIGN on each side, by Kwakiulth First Nation artist Sarah Robertson from Kingcome Inlet, BC. As always in Sarah's art, deep cuts. This is not a bentwood.
The design is detailed and truly beautiful, lid and base is left natural. Sarah always leaves the pencil marks on the inside of the box and the lid - it just shows and proofs that it's fully hand crafted, carved and painted. A really delightful piece to add to any native art collection.Measurements total outside: 7 1/2" x 7 1/2" (lid), 7" high, opening measured on inside: 4 1/2" x 4 1/2. Is a member of the Kwakiutl (Kwakwaka'wakw) First Nation with part of her heritage connecting to the Coast Salish. She was born in Nanaimo, a small fishing town on Vancouver Island, British Columbia, Canada. She started carving under the guidance of her father, master carver Alfred Robertson.
