Absolutely beautiful turquoise bird fetish by unknown carver; certainly of Zuni origin. Some serious mojo on this piece! Small in size, but huge in power.. My sense is that this piece is very old, indeed.

All hand-carved, with primitive handtool-marks. Solid turquoise, finely polished, and silky smooth to the touch. NB: This piece is for the holding, and is not drilled with a hole. Stunning artistry shown in reduction of form and detail making this a miniature sculpture of remarkable beauty. Photos really don't do it justice: the full round belly, the gentle scoop of the underside wings, the tapering of the tail, the feather lines so effectively suggesting speed of flight-- all just magnificent!

I acquired this piece from an old collector of Native American artifacts here in Ojai, CA. And I've owned it for many years. But now I feel it's ready for its next journey... And I know whoever becomes its next guardian will be equally blessed to care for this remarkable fetish.
