Stunning and exceptionally rare original William IV 1830 American Eagle carved with 13-star flag rocking armchair with Chesterfield tufted leather. The only one of its kind in the world, I have never seen anything that comes close to this level of detail, every single square inch of Mahogany frame is hand carved from head to toe. The chair starts at the top with the 13 Star American flag surmounted by the large eagle.

The arms have lions heads, theres another 13 star flag surmounted by flowers to the base, the front of the rocker rails are finished with what we thought dolphins looked like in the early 1900s, the rest of the rails represent their scaled bodies which of course we now know they dont have. The leather upholstery is sublime, this chair really is a show stopped and commands attention in any setting.

It has been fully restored, the mahogany frame has been washed back and French polished, the leather all lightly stripped, and hand dyed six times to give it this amazing deep whisky brown colour, there are old repairs to the back rest but they are period and didnt need any updating so they have been left, this chair is a real winner.
